Ingredients
1 cup (230g) unsalted butter, softened
1 cup (200g) brown sugar, packed
½ cup (100g) granulated sugar
2 large eggs, room temperature
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 cups (360g) all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
2 cups (340g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
Flaky sea salt, optional, for topping
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
Slowly fold dry ingredients into wet mixture until just combined.
Stir in chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
Scoop large dough balls (about ¼ cup each) and place 2 inches apart on baking sheet.
Bake for 12–14 minutes, until edges are golden but centers are soft.
Sprinkle with flaky sea salt if desired.
Let cookies cool for 5 minutes on the tray before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
Chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking for extra-thick cookies.
Use high-quality chocolate chips or chunks for the best flavor.
Cookies stay fresh for up to 4 days in an airtight container.
