Ingredients
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
½ tsp baking soda
¼ tsp salt
½ cup unsalted butter, softened
½ cup brown sugar
¼ cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 ½ tsp red food coloring (gel preferred)
¾ cup semisweet chocolate chips
Optional: ¼ cup white chocolate chips
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Cream butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (2–3 minutes).
Add egg, vanilla, and red food coloring. Mix until smooth and vibrant.
Whisk together flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl.
Combine wet and dry ingredients until just mixed.
Fold in chocolate chips gently.
Scoop dough (2 tbsp portions) onto the baking sheet.
Bake for 10–12 minutes, until edges are set and centers are soft.
Cool for 5 minutes on the sheet, then transfer to a rack. Enjoy warm!
Notes
Chill dough for 30 minutes before baking for thicker cookies.
Mix dark and white chocolate chips for extra flavor contrast.
Slightly underbake for a soft, chewy texture.
Perfect for Valentine’s Day or cozy nights in!
