Soft, chewy, and full of chocolate flavor — these Red Velvet Chocolate Chip Cookies are the ultimate homemade treat. With their vibrant red color and gooey chocolate centers, they’re perfect for sharing love, warmth, and a little sweetness from my Cretan kitchen to yours.

  • Total Time: 27 minutes
  • Yield: 20 cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder

  • ½ tsp baking soda

  • ¼ tsp salt

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened

  • ½ cup brown sugar

  • ¼ cup granulated sugar

  • 1 large egg

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 ½ tsp red food coloring (gel preferred)

  • ¾ cup semisweet chocolate chips

  • Optional: ¼ cup white chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  • Cream butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (2–3 minutes).

  • Add egg, vanilla, and red food coloring. Mix until smooth and vibrant.

  • Whisk together flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl.

  • Combine wet and dry ingredients until just mixed.

  • Fold in chocolate chips gently.

  • Scoop dough (2 tbsp portions) onto the baking sheet.

  • Bake for 10–12 minutes, until edges are set and centers are soft.

  • Cool for 5 minutes on the sheet, then transfer to a rack. Enjoy warm!

Notes

  • Chill dough for 30 minutes before baking for thicker cookies.

  • Mix dark and white chocolate chips for extra flavor contrast.

  • Slightly underbake for a soft, chewy texture.

  • Perfect for Valentine’s Day or cozy nights in!
