- 1 pre-made 9-inch pie crust
- 1 bunch fresh asparagus (about 200 g), trimmed and chopped
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, gruyere, or mozzarella)
- 1/2 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).
- Trim asparagus ends and cut into small pieces.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet and sauté onion for 3 minutes until soft.
- Add asparagus and cook for another 3–4 minutes until slightly tender.
- Place pie crust into a pie dish and press gently into shape.
- In a bowl whisk eggs, heavy cream, milk, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and nutmeg.
- Sprinkle half of the shredded cheese into the crust.
- Add the sautéed asparagus and onions evenly.
- Pour egg mixture over the vegetables.
- Top with the remaining cheese.
- Bake for 35–40 minutes until the center is set.
- Let the quiche rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
You can substitute half-and-half for heavy cream to lighten the quiche. Feta cheese adds a delicious Mediterranean twist. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheat in the oven for best texture.
