Description

This ground beef pot pie is a comforting, homemade classic made with tender beef, vegetables, and a creamy sauce baked under a golden crust. Perfect for cozy family dinners and make-ahead meals.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 500 g ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 2 potatoes, diced
  • 1 cup peas
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 pie crust
  • 1 egg, beaten

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pan and cook the onion until soft.
  2. Add ground beef and cook until browned. Season with salt, pepper, and paprika.
  3. Add garlic, carrots, and potatoes. Cook for a few minutes.
  4. Sprinkle flour over the mixture and stir well.
  5. Slowly add beef broth and milk, stirring until thickened.
  6. Fold in peas and thyme, then remove from heat.
  7. Transfer filling to a baking dish and cover with pie crust.
  8. Brush crust with beaten egg and cut slits for steam.
  9. Bake at 190°C (375°F) for 35–40 minutes until golden.

Notes

Let the filling cool slightly before baking for a flakier crust. You can substitute ground turkey or add mushrooms for extra flavor. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days.
