Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened

  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed

  • ½ cup granulated sugar

  • 2 large eggs

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • ½ teaspoon baking powder

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.

  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter, brown sugar, and white sugar until fluffy.

  • Add eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.

  • In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.

  • Slowly add dry mixture into wet mixture until just combined.

  • Fold in chocolate chips (and walnuts if using).

  • Scoop large portions of dough (about ¼ cup each) and place on baking sheet, spacing 2 inches apart.

  • Bake 12–14 minutes, until golden at the edges but soft in the center.

  • Let cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
