Ingredients
1 cup (230g) unsalted butter, melted
1 cup (200g) brown sugar
½ cup (100g) granulated sugar
2 large eggs, room temperature
2 tsp pure vanilla extract
2 ¼ cups (280g) all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
1 ½ cups (270g) semisweet chocolate chips
Optional: ½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch pan with parchment paper.
Mix wet ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth. Add eggs and vanilla; whisk until combined.
Combine dry ingredients: In another bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, and salt. Add to the wet mixture and stir until no flour remains.
Add chocolate chips: Fold in chocolate chips (and nuts if using).
Bake: Spread dough evenly in the pan. Bake for 25–30 minutes, until golden brown and set in the middle.
Cool & cut: Allow to cool before cutting into bars. Serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
For extra gooey texture, slightly underbake the bars and let them cool in the pan.
Add a sprinkle of flaky sea salt on top before baking for a gourmet touch.
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days.
