Ingredients
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
1 ½ cups packed light brown sugar
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
Optional: ½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until fluffy.
Add eggs one at a time, mixing well. Stir in vanilla.
In another bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to wet ingredients.
Fold in chocolate chips (and nuts if using).
Scoop tablespoon-sized dough onto baking sheet.
Bake 10–12 minutes until edges are golden but centers are soft.
Let cool 5 minutes before transferring to wire rack.
Notes
For extra chewiness, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking.
Store cookies in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
