Ingredients

  • ½ cup (115g) unsalted butter

  • ½ cup (100g) brown sugar

  • ¼ cup (50g) white sugar

  • 1 large egg

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour

  • ½ teaspoon baking soda

  • ¼ teaspoon salt

  • ¾ cup (125g) semisweet chocolate chips

Optional Toppings:

  • Vanilla ice cream

  • Sea salt flakes

Instructions

  • Melt the Butter: In an oven-safe 8–10 inch skillet, melt the butter over low heat until smooth and golden. Remove from heat and cool slightly.

  • Mix Wet Ingredients: Add both sugars to the melted butter, then stir in the egg and vanilla until glossy and smooth.

  • Add Dry Ingredients: Stir in flour, baking soda, and salt until just combined. Do not overmix.

  • Fold in Chocolate Chips: Gently fold in the chocolate chips evenly throughout the dough.

  • Bake: Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 8–10 minutes, or cook covered on the stove for 8–10 minutes.

 

  • Serve: Let cool slightly, then serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a sprinkle of sea salt.

Notes

  • Use a cast iron skillet for even baking and crispy edges.

  • For an extra gooey center, slightly underbake the cookie.
